Police Log


There was a two vehicle collision yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Monroe and Sixth Street. A report was taken and is pending further investigation.

Globe Police arrested 31 year old Adam Garcia yesterday for domestic violence assault.
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office charged Garcia with aggravated assault, burglary, theft, misconduct involving a weapon and parole violation.

Globe Police arrested 27 year old Adam Lopez on a child support warrant.

Officers are investigating a report of a disturbance at Connie’s Store; criminal damage at a residence on Euclid; a theft at a buisness on East Ash Street; and a theft at a residence on Adriatic Avenue.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a theft in Ice House Canyon and a burglary on Copper Hills Road.

Miami Police arrested 38 year old Robert Rodriguez on a child support warrant.
The Globe-Miami Community Concert Association presents a performance by the Phoenix Boys Choir this Sunday (December 2) at 3:30pm. It's in the Miami High School auditorium.

Horsemanship Workshop

The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension will hold a Horsemanship Workshop on Saturday (December 1) at 10:am. It will be held at the Peridot arena.

St. John's Episcopal Annual Bazaar


St. John’s Episcopal Annual Bazaar is this Saturday (December 1) at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

There will be hand craft gifts, a “White Elephant” table with new and next to new things, and jewelry. You’ll also find home made candies, pies, jams, jellies, breads, Dottie’s Famous Cookies and Shirley’s (nearly as famous) Peanut Brittle Wheels.

It’s Saturday from 9:am to 2:pm.

Apache Bow Hunters Winter Warm-Up Shoot


The Apache Bow Hunters Winter Warm-up Shoot will be held  Saturday (December 1) at the McLachlan Range on Russell Road.

The shoot consists of 2 rounds of 20 targets.

Registration is at 7:am and cards must be turned in by 2:pm.

The cost  to participate is $20.

'Tip an Officer Night'


This Saturday night (December 1) is “Tip an Officer Night” at Judy’s Cookhouse and Irene’s Mexican Food. Globe, Tri City and Canyon Fire Department, and Globe Police Department officers will wait on you between 5 and 9:pm.

All tips will go to Christmas meals and gifts for the needy in our community.

Community Christmas Concert on December 1


The Copper Cities Community Players will present a Christmas Concert  on Saturday (December 1).

There will be a matinee at 2:pm with a Gala and evening show at 6:pm.

Tickets are $15 for the matinee and $25 for the evening Gala and show. They will be available at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts beginning November 18. Call 425-0884.

Loner's Motorcycle Club Toy Run


The Loner’s Motorcycle Club 32nd Annual Toy Run will take place this  Saturday (December 1). The parade starts at noon at the Bullion Plaza and will end at the American Legion in Globe.

The cost is $10 a person or a toy of equal value (and two cans of food, if possible, for the Community Food Bank).

There will also be food, drinks, live music and an auction.

Police Log


Nobody was hurt in a two vehicle accident yesterday evening on Highway 60. An accident report was taken and the case is under investigation.

There was a hit and run accident at Ash and Second Street. The incident is under investigation.

Miami Police have completed their investigation of an accidental shooting that occurred on November 18. The initial report said that it was a possible drive-by shooting with a 15 year old victim. Preliminary investigation proved the shooting to be accidental and self-inflicted. The 15 year old juvenile has been charged with theft of the weapon that was used and for endangerment.

38 year old Robert Rodriguez was arrested yesterday on a child support warrant.

Globe Police arrested 49 year old Martin Cano for fraudulently obtaining utility services.

Officers are investigating a delayed domestic violence report.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of threats taken at Four Star Mobile Home Park.

Besh Ba Gowah Luminaria Event is December 23


The annual night of luminarias at Besh-Ba-Gowah is Sunday, December 23. Admission is free.

There will also be hot cider, coffee, cookies, live music and photos with  Santa.

The event is from 5 to 11:pm.

Miami Council Special Meeting on Thursday


The Miami Town Council will have a Special Meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at 6:30pm.

The agenda includes discussion and possible action to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement with Gila County for the Cobre Valley Community Transit System’s Dial-A-Ride Program.

The Council will also consider a citizen petition requesting that the Town of Miami clean up property located at 869 W. Keegan Street.

Obituaries


Ola Davis of Tucson passed away November 25. She was 89.
The wake for Ola Davis is Friday at 4:pm at the Pansy Cassdore residence. The funeral is Saturday at 10:am at the LDS Church in San Carlos.

Dora Lee Burns of Globe passed away  November 26 in Mesa. She was 79. She is survived by 2 sons, including John Caretto of Globe; and her brother.
Vistation for Dora Burns is Saturday at 9:am in the Relief Society Room at the LDS Stake Center in Globe. The funeral is at 10:00.

Vernon Hooke, Sr. passed away November 21 at his home in San Carlos. He was 65. The wake for Vernon Hooke is Saturday at 4:pm at the Hooke residence. The funeral is Sunday at 1:pm.

Drop Off Food and Toys Next Week at the Globe Fire Department


Globe Fire Department volunteers will be accepting donations of toys and non-perishable food items next week for the Salvation Army.

Items may be dropped off at the Globe Fire Department during business hours from December 3 through December 7.

Police Log


Globe Police arrested 27 year old Edward Aguilar early this morning for domestic violence disorderly conduct after a disturbance on South Devereaux.

Yesterday morning Globe PD received a call about a guest who refused to check out at a motel on East Ash. 52 year old Jimmie Yellowhair of Tuba City was charged with criminal trespass.

21 year old William Lagunas was arrested yesterday on a failure to pay warrant for disorderly conduct fighting and for driving with a suspended license.

24 year old Jesse Flores was arrested on a contempt of court warrant for driving with a suspended license.

28 year old Mark Lopez was arrested on a contempt of court warrant for child support.

Officers are investigating a report of shoplifting at the Hill Street Safeway; shoplifting at a business on Highway 60; and theft from a vehicle on Kitt Peak Road.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office is investigating criminal damage at a residence on Roberts and a theft at the Madera Peak apartments.

Police Log


Nobody was hurt in a two vehicle accident Friday morning at the Walmart intersection.

Yesterday the Gila County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28 year old Francisco Martinez for domestic violence/assault.

On Saturday night deputies observed a reckless driver that ended up in an accident in the area of Oak and Willow. The car was towed and 19 year old Cameron Ashby was arrested for reckless driving, excessive speed and endangerment.

40 year old Shawn Ortega was arrested on Friday  for possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and cultivation of marijuana.

50 year old John Pearce was arrested for possession of stolen property and misconduct involving weapons.

Two people were arrested at a traffic stop on Friday. 28 year old Bobby Wilson was arreested on contempt of court warrants for assault. 28 year old Robert Herrera was arrested on a probation violation warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies are investigating a harassment report taken on Pinal View and a fraud report taken on E. Golden Street.

Globe Police are investigating a burglary on North Cliff Edge Lane; shoplifting at a business on Santee; criminal damage to a vehicle on Saguaro Drive; and criminal damage to a vehicle on Boston.
