Arizona House OKs Transportation Bill

The Arizona House has overwhelmingly approved a bill that could set the stage for the construction of new toll roads. The bill sets the ground rules for the Department of Transportation to enter into “public-private partnerships” on state transportation projects. These could—but would not necessarily--include toll roads. The bill now goes to the state Senate. Arizona law already allows toll roads but none have been built. The Arizona Republic reports that current statutes are considered outdated.
