Bashas' Announces More Store Closures

Bashas’ says it plans to close more of its supermarkets because of increased competition and the recession. Five stores were closed in February. The Arizona Republic reports that Bashas’ is still evaluating its stores and won’t specify how many will be closing. The company says it will make every effort to find jobs at other stores for affected employees.

So far Bashas’ is the only supermarket chain to announce multiple closures, but experts say other grocers could close as the recession continues.
