Gila County to Receive $13,000 to
Help Families

The Department of Homeland Security will make more than $13,000 available to help people in Gila County continue to care for their families in tough times. The funds will be provided through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. EFSP funds can be used by county and local governemnts to provide critical, one time assistance when it is needed most. County residents will be able to receive one month aid in making rent or mortgage payments to keep them from being kicked out of their homes. Funds may also be used as transition assistance to help families find stable living conditions if they are evicted.
