ADOT has reopened the roads to the lakes in the White Mountains for the summer season. State Route 261 between Springerville and Big Lake is now open. So is SR 273 between Sunrise Park and Big Lake.
ADOT closes the highways each winter when snowfall begins and reopens them in the spring.
State Route 473—the road to Hawley Lake—is also open.
