Governor Jan Brewer has signed legislation that will help Arizona attract solar and renewable energy companies.
The Quality Jobs Through Renewable Industries Program extends tax credits and other incentives to manufacturers of renewable energy equipment if they locate in Arizona and meet other criteria.
The Greater Phoenix Economic Council says several businesses have been waiting for the incentives package to become law before announcing plans to relocate to Arizona. GPEC says they will meet this week with officials fom 25 major solar companies at the Intersolar North American conference in San Franciso.
Arizona Department of Commerce Director Don Cardon says the legislation will help Arizona secure the lead it should have for solar and renewable technologies.
