Care Homes

Pinal/Gila Long Term Care has scheduled a series of public forums throughout Pinal and Gila counties. The goal is to increase the types of community-based settings in the area by providing alternatives to institutionalized health care.

There will be a meeting at the Globe Senior Center on Tuesday, October 26 at 1:pm.

The forums provide information about how community members can become a manager of an adult foster care home. Adult foster homes are residential settings that provide room, board and adult foster care services for up to four adults. Some of the benefits of creating an adult foster care home include: caring for a family member in a comfortable, safe environment, and being able to generate income in a tough economy.

Forums will also be held in Payson, Apache Junction, Oracle and Maricopa.

  1. What would the base hourly rate of pay be for 24 hours a day care we would provide as an Adult Foster Home caregiver? Would there be compensation for things like household utilities, food, special home insurance, transportation costs, and repair and upkeep of the home - and if not, would there be a cost of living increase directly reflecting the rate of inflation built into the pay scale? I would imagine it would be an hourly rate comparable to managerial position in addition to the overhead costs? Also, I'm curious if there would be a rate of pay increase depending on the supports provided for difficulty of care needs?
    Thank you!
