The Arizona Geology blog reports that two Phoenix-based copper companies are among the largest mining companies in the world. The Mineweb.com list ranks Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold at #8. Southern Copper (Grupo Mexico) is #13.
The list is based on their market capitalization. Freeport’s value is $56.55 billion and Southern’s is $41.43 billion.
