Cable TV Pioneer Dies, Built State's First System in Globe

The Cable TV pioneer who built Arizona’s first cable system here in Globe has died. Bruce Merrill started Antennavision Corp. in 1951, bringing channel 5 in Phoenix to Globe.

By 1989, Antennavision had 10 systems in Arizona with 9,000 subscribers. He later built or bought systems in several other states.

Phoenix Business Journal reports that Bruce Merrill died Sunday at the age of 92.
