A study that measures the health of Arizona residents shows that Gila County is once again the least healthy county in the state. Santa Cruz County is the healthiest.

The 2011 County Health Rankings were released by the University of Wisconsin and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. They found that Gila County residents are more than two times more likely to die a premature death than those living in Santa Cruz County.

The study also shows that 24% of Gila County adults smoke. That compares to 17% in Santa Cruz County.

The five healthiest counties in Arizona are Santa Cruz, Yuma, Maricopa, Coconino and Pima.
