Arizona Food Prices Rise in First Quarter

Arizona food prices have risen 5% during the first quarter. The Arizona Farm Bureau Market Basket Survey of 16 basic grocery store items totaled $47.85 in the first quarter. That’s $2.41 more than at the start of the year. Of the items surveyed, six decreased in price and 10 increased.

Bacon showed the largest price increase, a gain of 30%. Other items that increased in price include Russet potatoes, ground chuck, white bread and shredded cheddar cheese. Items that decreased in price include whole milk, sliced deli ham and orange juice.
