A new study shows that more than 87,000 Arizona jobs and $370 million in state tax revenues are supported by outdoor recreation.
The study also shows that outdoor recreation indirectly supports another 100,000 jobs and produces $5.3 billion in Arizona retail sales. This is 12% of Arizona’s total retail economy.
The report by two Arizona economists shows that legislative efforts to cut funding for state and national parks, and for land preservation, could especially hurt economies in the state’s rural areas.
