Globe Police have released the details of an incident Friday night that began with an attempted assault at the Drift Inn and ended up in a pursuit through Globe and on Highway 77.
30 year old David Scott was asked to leave several times by the owner of the Drift Inn after being disorderly. Scott attempted to assault the owner in the parking lot as he was being escorted out of the building and was injured in the process.
While still investigating the incident, officers located Scott in a vehicle in the Two Lanes parking lot. When the officers attempted to contact him, Scott fled the scene and led officers on a pursuit through Globe to Highway 70 and then to State Route 77, south toward Tucson. Scott continued to flee officers by entering the Pipeline Recreational Area. He was apprehended at the far end of Six Shooter Canyon Road near China Town.
Scott required medical treatment for the attempted assault and was taken to Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. After he was released from the hospital, Scott was booked into the Gila County Jail for unlawful flight from law enforcement. Additional charges of disorderly conduct, attempted assault and driving under the influence are pending review by the prosecutors office.
