ADOT Receives Funding for Crosswalk
Signal

The Arizona Department of Transportation has received federal funding for the design of a crosswalk signal on US 60 at Globe High School. Once it is installed, the signal will be activated when a pedestrian pushes a button. The signal will gradually stop traffic with yellow flashing lights followed by a red light. Once traffic stops in both directions, the pedestrian is signaled to walk safely across the street. Sensors allow the signal to turn green when the pedestrian has completely crossed the road.

ADOT still needs to go through the design process required by federal funding Then it will need federal approval to start the bidding and construction phase of the project.

In the meantime ADOT has updated and installed new and more prominent signing and striping at the intersection.
