Arizona Figures Show Decrease in Registered Voters

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett has released the latest voter registration figures. There are now 3,165,558 registered voters in Arizona. That’s a decrease of more than 46,000 since the last report in July. The decrease is believed to be due to Arizona counties’ routine maintenance of voter lists to purge inactive voters from the rolls.

Of the state’s 3.1 million voters, 1,124,173 are Republicans, 974,892 are Democrats and 1,037,450 have either registered with independent parties or have not designated a party preference.

Libertarians make up a little less than 1% of the state’s total registration. They total 23,913. The Green Party has 5,061 registered voters. And the Americans Elect Party has enrolled 69 voters since joining Arizona’s other recognized political parties earlier this year.

Bennett reminds voters that only those who have registered with a political party will be able to participate in the Presidential primary.
