Only 38% of Arizonans Born Here

The Phoenix Business Journal reports that only 38% of Arizona’s population was born here. That puts Arizona second on the list of states with the lowest number of residents living in the state in which they were born.

New US Census data shows that on average, 59% of Americans live in the state of their birth. The state with the highest percentage of natives in the population is Louisiana at 78.8%. The lowest is Alaska—the only state below Arizona.

Arizona is the number two state with people moving from California. Texas was number one.
