Globe PD Warns of Telephone Scam

The Globe Police Department is warning the public about a telephone scam.

If you receive a telephone call telling you that one of your family members or friends has been arrested in Mexico or any other foreign country, this is most likely a scam. The caller tells you that the family member needs a certain amount of money to be bonded out of jail. This is usually in the thousands of dollars.

Don’t give out any banking information, including debit or credit card numbers. Do not obtain money orders, cashier checks or Western Union money transfers without first contacting your local Police Department.

  1. I definitely agree. People should treat their personal information, especially financial details as they would their own life. With these scammers around, we can never be too careful. Why, if you read the complaints posted at http://www.callercenter.com alone, you'd realize how prevalent such scams are and a lot of people has been victimized. Let's try to learn the lesson from their experience.
