Gila County’s unemployment rate increased slightly in
October to 9.4%.
The Arizona statewide unemployment rate is declining very
slowly. It dropped from 8.2% to 8.1%
Nationally, the unemployment rate rose from 7.8% to 7.9%.
Gila County’s job picture has remained frozen for almost a
year. This is believed to be due to problems in the mining industry in southern
Gila County; and to troubles in the leisure and hospitality industry, and the construction
industry in northern Gila County.
