The next First Friday program on May 3 will present Don
Shields portraying the first governor of Arizona.
Shields uses the voice and mannerisms of the speakers of the
time to bring Governor Hunt to life. Hunt family members say he is a striking
likeness. His stories of the struggle for Arizona statehood are based on
extensive research and interviews with members of the Hunt family.
During the Arizona Centennial celebration, Shields led the
re-enactment of Governor Hunt’s walk to
the Capitol on the first day of statehood and his first speech as Governor.
This program is free and will be presented at 6:30pm on
Friday, May 3 at the Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum.
