Tomorrow (Friday) afternoon Jim Ole will return a historic
picture and letters to the Pifer family.
The picture and letters were found inside an old tobacco can
while remodeling the “arch building” downtown.
The young girl in the picture was Charlotte Pifer and the
letters were written to a young man back in 1920.
The Pifer family had a presence in Globe for many years and
the Pifer Ranch was just outside the City Limits close to the Globe Cemetery.
Globe staff did some research and found Charlotte’s nephew
Tom Pifer in Casa Grande.
The items will be returned to the Pifer family tomorrow at
3:pm at the old walking bridge across Pine Street from the Old Dominion parking
lot. That’s close to the spot where the picture was taken 93 years ago.
