Miami High School graduate Casey Blake ran in the Boston
marathon on Monday. He and his family were within 100 yards of the first bomb explosion but they were not
hurt.
Casey has dreamed of participating in a major marathon event
ever since he ran track and cross country at Miami High School in the early
1980’s. He finished the Boston marathon in 3 hours and 21 minutes. That’s in
the top 6,000, out of more than 27,000 entries.
Casey's family in Arizona couldn’t get through to him after the
explosions but he was eventually able to get a text message to his sister saying
that he and his wife and daughter were OK.
Casey was finally able to talk to his mother Anita here in
Globe on Tuesday morning. That was his birthday.
