Globe Man Rescued After Four Days in Oregon Snowstorm

An Oregon newspaper reports that a Globe man was rescued by a search and rescue team on June 20 after being stranded for four days in a snowstorm.

The Register-Guard reports that 57 year old Rip Stouffer had been planning to hike alone to California by the Pacific Crest Trail. He had warm clothing, food and water but was not prepared for the severe winterlike weather and snow accumulations.

He used his tent for a shelter and hunkered down until he was able to call for help. When the rescue team found him he was cold but unhurt.
