The Phoenix VA hospital system is being investigated for
patient deaths that may have been due to delayed care.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs said yesterday (Wednesday) that there could be
as many as 40 veterans whose deaths may be related to delays in care.
Rep. Jeff Miller of Florida also said that there is evidence
that the Phoenix VA Health Care System keeps two sets of records to
conceal long waits for doctor
appointments and treatment.
AZCentral.com reports that the assistant deputy undersecretary
for the Department of Veterans Affairs testified
that he was not aware of the Arizona record keeping practice. He asked for
more detailed information from congressional staffers.
