This is
National Work Zone Awareness Week. The
Federal Highway Administration says 24 people died in crashes in work zones across Arizona in 2007. Four out of five victims in work zones are drivers or passengers, not highway workers. The number of deaths can be much lower if drivers take some simple steps:
Pay attention to signs.
Slow down and observe speed limits.
Avoid distractions, including cell phones.
Watch the car ahead of you. Don't tailgate. And
Always buckle up.
