Arizona Recognized as 'Bicycle Friendly'

The League of American Bicyclists has honored the State of Arizona for actively supporting bicycling and encouraging cycling among riders of all ages.

The award comes at the beginning of National Bike Month. Six states won awards.

Arizona scored high for promoting protection of cyclists through a three foot minimum passing law. The ADOT Bicycle and Pedestrian Program produces a “Share the Road” guide to help educate bicyclists and motorists about the legal and safe ways of sharing the roadway. The Arizona Department of Transportation also has policies designed to accommodate bicycle travel on most of the state’s highways.
