Classical Music May Relieve Depression

The Utne Reader reports that new research suggests that classical music may relieve depression. Investigators conducted an eight week study of 79 people suffering low to medium levels of depression. Half the group participated in talk therepy seessions. The other half listened to classical music for 50 minutes a day. Each group charted their symptoms weekly on a standard scale for measuring depression.

At the end of the experiment, 29 music listeners showed improvement compared to only 12 in the talk therepy group.
