Police Log

Sewer water backed up into the lower apartments at the Christina Apartments in Miami over the weekend. Miami Police and Fire Departments along with Miami Town employees assisted the complex manager with the problem. At least three tenants with their families had to be placed in hotels.

Tables, benches and walls at the Miami Park were vandalized over the weekend. Miami Police detained five juveniles. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.

A car was stolen Saturday morning from a residence on Banker Ave. An Attempt to Locate was issued to surrounding agencies. The car was located by a Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy traveling westbound on Highway 60 near Gold Canyon. The driver fled from the deputy but stopped at Idaho Road and fled on foot. The driver was located and arrested and now faces charges in both Pinal and Gila Counties.

Two people were arrested after a domestic disturbance Saturday morning in the area of Hunter Drive and Prospect. 21 year old Jose Dorame and 18 year old Rachel Green were arrested for domestic violence/disorderly conduct.

35 year old Richard Wheeler was arrested Saturday for fraudulent schemes.

19 year old Brittany Velasquez was arrested for shoplifting at a business on Highway 60.

Officers are investigating a domestic disorderly conduct complaint on Chaparral Loop; a hit and run accident at Walmart; a theft from a vehicle at a business on Highway 60; criminal damage to a business on West Highway 60; a theft of property from a residence on Glance Street; criminal damage to a vehicle at a residence on Skyline; and a car hitting mailboxes on Skyline Drive.

A pedestrian was hit by a car Saturday evening in Kellner Canyon. The pedestrian was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

A Gila County Sheriff’s deputy issued a criminal citation for animal cruelty Friday morning at a residence on Dominion.

Deputies are investigating a report of custodial interference at a residence on Pineway and vandalism to headstones at the Central Heights cemetery.
