The Tortilla Fire in the Superstition Wilderness, east of Apache Junction and south of Highway 88, has burned 1700 acres.
Tonto National Forest officials say the fire is being monitored and managed for resource benefits to meet wilderness management objectives. Smoke may be visible in surrounding areas.
Forest Road 213 is currently closed, at the Tortilla Trail Head.
