  1. On December 7th, 2012 a helicopter crashed into lake Roosevelt. Fortunately all three passengers survived. The Payson Round Up reporter Alexis Bechman continues to post negative comments regarding the Gila County Sheriff's Office volunteer divers.

I don't think she appreciates their dedication, effort, personal time and personal cost which is donated to unfortunate persons who lose their life or vehicle / watercraft in the waters of Gila County. As all humans, volunteers are not perfect and do not always have success in locating lost items, persons or evidence.

#Efforts to recover a helicopter that crashed into Roosevelt Lake Dec. 7 have ended after multiple failed dives.

The divers recovered a headset and checked multiple sonar targets, process of elimination. Volunteers do not always have the latest sonar equipment, they work with what they got. The dives were not failures. Not all divers were off-duty Gila County.
