Payson Area Man Arrested for Sexual Assaults Reported on November 21

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with sexual assaults reported on November 21.

On that day deputies responded to a call at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center about the possible sexual assault of two young girls ages 9 and 6. The children were taken to the Phoenix metro area for exams and interviews.

The children had been staying with a family member in the Payson area while their mother was working in the Phoenix area. One of the girls told their mother what happened as they were going back home to Globe.

On Wednesday the Gila County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a residence in the Round Valley sub-division south of Payson. 66 year old Robert Dyer was arrested for child molestation, sexual abuse and furnishing harmful items to a minor. Dyer is being held on $500,000 bond.

Sheriff’s Detectives in both Globe and Payson developed enough information to execute the search warrant and take Dyer into custody.

The case is still active and investigation will continue.
