William Ballesteros of Globe passed away November 2 in Mesa.
He was 70.

Lifelong Miami resident Timothy Brandenburg passed away
October 31 in New Mexico. He was 47. He is survived by his mother and father;
his wife Linda Falquez Guerra; 5 daughters, including Ceaserae and Kristina
Brandenburg, and Carissa Moore of Miami; his sons Michael Falquez and Anthony
Guerra of Miami; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation for Timothy Brandenburg is tomorrow (Thursday) at
9:am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Rosary is at 9:30 and Mass is
Weaver, Sr.of Coolidge passed away November 3 at Copper Mountain Inn. He was
93. He is survived by his children Ralph Weaver, Jr., Glen Eddings and Velata
Shaffer of Claypool; and 8 grandchildren.
Visitation for Ralph Weaver, Sr. is Saturday from 1 to 2:30pm
at Lamont Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 at Globe Cemetery.
President Barack Obama has been re-elected to a second term
in the White House. Obama received 303 Electoral votes, more than the 270
needed to win. Obama also won the popular vote, 52.89% to 45.48%.
Arizona has elected Jeff
Flake to the US Senate. Flake defeated Democrat Richard Carmona 50.42%
Ann Kirkpatrick will return to Washington from Arizona’s
Congressional District 1. Kirkpatrick defeated Republican Jonathon Paton 48.68%
In the State Senate race for Legislative District 8, Democrat Barbara
McGuire defeated Republican Joe Ortiz 49% to 46%. But Republicans “TJ” Shope
and Frank Pratt received the most votes in
District 8 for the Arizona State House.
Mike Pastor keeps his seat on the Gila County Board of
Supervisors with 54% of the votes.
The new Gila County Sheriff is Adam Shepherd, who received 57%
of the votes.
Deborah Savage received 53% of the votes to defeat Don
Ascoli for Gila County Treasurer
Mickie Nye lost to Sadie Jo Thompson, who received 66%, to
keep her position as Gila County Recorder.
Deborah Hughes is the new Gila County Assessor. She defeated
Dale Hom, who held the position for 24 years.
In the Globe School Board election, the most votes went to
Noelle Anderson, Jacque Cline Griffin and Judy Moorhead.
Voters in the Miami School District defeated a proposed
budget increase, 53% to 47%.
Arizona voters have defeated the proposition that would have
made permanent a 1% temporary sales tax for education and other
services. 65% voted No.
Proposition 120—the so-called “state sovereignty" referendum—was
defeated 67.54% to 32.46%.
The proposition that would have changed primary elections to
a “top two” system was also defeated, 67% to 33%.
Proposition 117, the proposition that puts a cap on property
tax increases, passed with 57% voting Yes.
The proposition that adds protection for crime victims
passed with 80% of the votes.
Voters defeated Proposition 115. It would have given
Arizona governors more say over picking judges. Seventy-three percent voted No.
The proposition that would have increased equipment tax
exemptions for small businesses was defeated with 56.51% No votes.
Proposition 119, which allows swaps of state trust lands,
passed with 62% voting Yes.
Proposition 118, which sets a minimum amount of education
funding from the state trust land fund, is extremely close. Current unofficial
results show that proposition failing by less than 1%.
The Globe Active Adult Center Holiday Meal Campaign began
last week and continues until December 31.
The Apache Gold Casino and Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center
have each donated $1,000. Other sponsorships are in the works.
Each day, Monday through Friday, the Globe Active Adult Center
delivers meals to seniors and the disabled. Included with every meal is a
wellness check and a friendly chat.

Miami Police arrested 22 year old Felina Bell on a warrant
for disorderly conduct and assault.
36 year old Shawn Williams was arrested for disorderly
Shortly before noon yesterday, Globe Police were dispatched to
North Broad Street after a call about a man with a gun causing a disturbance.
The man also caused damage to a vehicle. He was gone when police arrived. Globe
PD is looking for a white Chevy pickup with New Mexico plates beginning with
the numbers 669. If you see this vehicle, please call the Globe Police
Globe Police arrested 32 year old Carlos Preston yesterday
morning at a residence on Blazer Drive. Preston was charged with domestic
violence/assault and preventing the use of a telephone during an emergency.
Two people were arrested after a disturbance at Globe Mobile
Home Park. 41 year old Trisha Simmons and 36 year old John Simmons were both
arrested for domestic violence/disorderly conduct.
62 year old Beverly Wright was arrested yesterday for
shoplifting at the Family Dollar Store.
Two people were arrested for shoplifting in separate
incidents Saturday afternoon at Walmart. 27 year old Malinda Harrison and 32
year old Erlinda Ramirez were booked into the Gila County Jail.
Officers are investigating a domestic assault that occurred
at Third and Ash; criminal damage to a church on South Broad Street; a theft at
a residence on High Street; shoplifting at the Santee Circle K; and criminal
damage at the Pinal Mountain Apartments.
A Gila County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 18 year old Taylor
Medlin-Van De Ventor of Phoenix early yesterday morning on a Globe warrant, and
for possession of dangerous drugs, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
40 year old Cruzvaldo Medrano was arrested on Roberts Drive
for domestic violence/assault.
Saturday night medical personnel responded to Connie’s Store
and took a woman to the hospital. A Gila
County Sheriff’s deputy took a domestic violence report. The case is under
60 year old Christopher Johns was arrested Saturday for
domestic violence/disorderly conduct at a residence on Cooley Ranch Road.
Deputies are investigating a report of identity theft taken
at a residence on Snedden; a burglary at a residence on Trampps Circle; a fraud
report taken at a residence on Euclid Loop; a burglary in Wheatfields; a report
of harassing phone calls taken at a residence on Russell Road; and possible
animal cruelty reported on Wheatfields Road.
The 1972 Miami High School Football Championship Reunion
will be held on Friday, November 23 at the Apache Gold Casino.
The event includes a meet and tour of the Miami Vandal Hall
of Fame at 1:pm. Then a social hour at 7:pm at the Apache Gold Casino. This
will be followed at 9:pm by a viewing of the Championship Game film with
comments from coaches and players.

A Soil Improvement and Garden Workshop will be held at Gila
Community College on Saturday, November 17 from 9:am until Noon.
The workshop will feature a hands-on computer exercise with
USDA’s Web Soil Survey of Southern Gila County. There will also be a series of
guest speakers talking about desert soils, composting, irrigation, and building
soil nutrients for gardening and plants.
The event is free and open to the public.

Globe Police arrested two people early this morning in
connection with an assault report. 37 year old Crystal Kelley was charged with
assault/domestic violence. 40 year old Michael James was arrested for violation
of a court order and domestic violence.
Officers are investigating an assault report taken at a
residence on North Main Street; a burglary at a business on North Broad Street;
and a burglary at a residence on West Gillete Street.
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office is investigating illegal
dumping of trash into Pinal Creek.
Former Globe resident Bessie V. Ashcroft passed away on
October 25 at her home in Ahwatukee. She was 87. She is survived by her husband
Ken; her sons John and Frank Dzera; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass for Bessie Ashcroft will be held Monday
(November 12) at 11:am at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
