Copper Cities Players Present 'The Miss Firecracker Contest'

The Copper Cities Community Players will present performances of “The Miss Firecracker Contest” on Friday and Saturday (May 2 and 3) and again next Saturday, May 10. A special Mother’s Day performance will be held on Sunday, May 11 after a Mother’s Day Tea.

'Seussical the Musical, Jr.'

Detour Company Theatre will present a performance of “Seussical the Musical, Jr.” this Saturday (January 25) at 3:30pm. It will be at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.

There is no admission charge but donations will be accepted to offset the company’s travel expenses.

'Christmas in Connecticut' Showing Benefits CVCA

Hollis Cinema is showing the 1945 classic film “Christmas in Connecticut” Thursday at 6:30pm.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at Cobre Valley Center for the Arts or an hour before showtime.

Proceeds will benefit the Center for the Arts,.

Christmas Classics at Hollis Cinema

Hollis Cinema is showing the movie “A Christmas Story” Thursday at 6:30pm. Tickets are $5 and available at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts and at Hollis Cinema an hour before showtime.  Proceeds will benefit the Center for the Arts.

Next Thursday (December 19) you can see the 1945 Christmas classic “Christmas in Connecticut.” That film also starts at 6:30 and will benefit the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.

Free Presentation Thursday Night at CVCA

Thursday night the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts will have a special performance by Dave Ehlert.

Ehlert portrays both Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain in this live theatrical production of historical drama, humor and education. It starts at 7:pm.

The event is free and there is no need to buy tickets or make reservations.

Special Theatrical Production on September 26

On Thursday, September 26, the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts presents a special performance by Dave Ehlert. Ehlert portrays both Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain in this live theatrical production of historical drama, humor and education.

The Summer Youth Musical Theater Program presents “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” on July 12, 13 and 19.

Summer Youth Theater Registration Begins May 13

The Cobre Valley Center for the Arts Summer Youth Musical Theater Program begins June 3.

This year’s preentation is Disney’s “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” All workshop participants will perform on stage as part of the final performances.

Registration begins May 13. Tuition fees vary from workshop to workshop but financial aid scholarships are available. No child will be prevented from attending because of cost but the number of spots for each workshop is limited.

More Chances to See 'Is He Dead?'

The Copper Cities Community Players will present encore performances of the Mark Twain comedy “Is He Dead?”this Friday and Saturday.. The shows will be at 7:pm at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.

The Players performed five sold-out shows of the comedy in September. Thanks to rave reviews and strong ticket sales, there will be three more performances in March.

Community Christmas Concert on December 1

The Copper Cities Community Players will present a Christmas Concert  on Saturday (December 1).

There will be a matinee at 2:pm with a Gala and evening show at 6:pm.

Tickets are $15 for the matinee and $25 for the evening Gala and show. They will be available at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts beginning November 18. Call 425-0884.

There are three more performances of Mark Twain’s “Is He Dead?” this weekend  by the Copper Cities Community Players.

The Mark Twain farce “Is He Dead?” will be perfomed Friday and Saturday, and again next weekend at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.

CVCA Dessert Social

The Cobre Valley Center for the Arts Annual Dessert Social will be held Saturday from 6 to 8:pm outside The White Porch at the Center for the Arts Building.

Bring your favorite dessert and wear your favorite apron to the event. There will also be a “Hero Cape” Apron Fashion show.

Admission is free but there’s a $5 fee to taste your choice of 6 desserts. Drinks will also be on sale.

Many of the bakers will bring a duplicate dessert to the “Silent Auction” table. If you like the taste of a certain dessert, you can bid for it  there. All proceeds go to the Center for the Arts.

'Wyatt Earp: A Life on the Frontier'

'Wyatt Earp: A Life on the Frontier'--The Story Hollywood Didn't Tell. This performance at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts starts at 1:p.m on Saturday. The free program is followed by a wine and cheese tasting party with a minimum donation per tasting.

Then at 4:pm, storyteller Martin Rivera will give a performance at the Globe Public Library.

Both of these programs are sponsored by the Globe Public Library with support from the Arizona State Library Service.

CVCA Call for Artists

The Cobre Valley Center for the Arts has an open call for artists for a Cinco De Mayo Art Exhibit during the entire month of May.

This is a call for all artists of all ages and all media.

CVCA Presents 'The Odd Couple'

The Cobre Valley Center for the Arts presents Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” Friday and Saturday at 7:pm at the Historic Court House Theater. There will also be performances on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.

'Wyatt Earp: A Life on the Frontier'

On Saturday, April 21, the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts will present Wyatt Earp: A Life on the Frontier, The Story Holywood Didn’t Tell. During the performance an elderly Wyatt earp tells of his adventures during the final days of the American frontier.

Wyatt Earp is best known for his participation in the “Gunfight at the OK Corral” which took place in Tombstone, Arizona on October 26, 1881.

The performance begins at 1:pm on Saturday, April 21 at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.

At 4:pm on that date storyteller Martin Rivera will give a performance at the Globe Public Library.

These programs are supported with funds granted by the Arizona State Archives and Public Records Agency and the Friends of the Globe Public Library.

Copper Cities Community Players Auditions

The Copper Cites Community Players will have auditions on Friday for the 2012-2013 production season. People of all ages are needed for acting, singing and dancing roles. They also need people interested in production, back stage, lights and sound, and promotion assistance.

The Players are especially looking for a young male lead singer and actor—age 18 to 30—for a production this spring.

Auditions will be held on Friday from 6 to 8:pm at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts. If you are interested but are unable tio make this audition, call Jo Nell Brantley Thomas at 425-8111.

Artist Opening Reception at CVCA

An Opening Reception for artists Barbara Kishbaugh and Jim Linstrom will be held Saturday from 11:am until 3:pm at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.
