Landfill Begins Summer Hours

The Russell Gulch landfill begins summer hours this week: 6:am to 4:pm. They are closed on Sundays and holidays.

At the collection event on Saturday, 116 residents dropped off 408 electronics for recycling. The company that brought in the paper shredder destroyed 194 boxes of documents brought in by 25 vehicles.

The next Gila County Landfill event is free greenwaste disposal day on Saturday, April 21 for Earth Day. Greenwaste includes tree limbs, brush, grass clippings and leaves.

E-Waste Recycling Event

A free E-Waste Recycling Event is being held in Globe on Saturday from 8:am to 1:pm on Highway 60 next to the Dollar Tree.

You can get rid of unwanted TV’s, computers, batteries, cell phones, VCR’s, CD and DVD players, and other small appliances. They will also shred sensitive paper documents.

Free E-Waste Recycling Event

A free E-Waste Recycling Event will be held in Globe on Saturday, March 31. This is an opportunity to recycle unwanted TV’s computers, monitors, printers, batteries, chargers, cell phones, VCR’s, CD and DVD players, fax machines, small appliances, and cables and cords. They will also shred ensitive paper documents as well.

The event will be from 8:am until 1:pm on Highway 60, next to Dollar Tree.

Globe Recycling Rate 24%

A report from Right-Away Disposal says that more than 215 tons of garbage and recycling was collected in the City of Globe during November. Out of that, more than 51 tons of recyclable material was diverted from the landfill. This accounts for 24% of the total material collected. This is a savings of more than $2,000 in landfill costs.

E-Waste Event Coming to Kearny

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has scheduled a free electronics waste recycling event in Kearny tomorrow (Saturday. It will be in the Ray School District parking lot from 8:am until 1:pm.

The event is co-sponsored with the towns of Kearny and Hayden, ASARCO and the Ray School District. They expect to collect tons of unwanted televisions, computer equipment, monitors, batteries, chargers, cell phones, VCR’s, CD and DVD players, printers, small appliances, fax machines, stereos, cables and cords during the event.

ADEQ has sponsored 24 events since August 2009 and collected more than 500,000 pounds from nearly 3,800 vehicles attending the e-waste events.

Las Lomas Recycling Ink Cartridges

Las Lomas Elementary School is collecting empty ink cartridges, old cell phones,mp3 players, cameras and other small electrical devices to recycle. They’re raising money for much needed classroom supplies.

You can drop off items at Las Lomas between 8:am and 3:pm Monday through Thursday.
