Gila County Cinderella Spaghetti Dinner

The Gila County Cinderella Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser is on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:pm at the Globe Knights of Columbus. Tickets are available at the door.

There will be a door prize, silent auction and a raffle.

Pool Tournament Fundraiser

The 2014 Spring Gymkhana Pool Tournament Fundraiser starts Sunday (April 27) at Noon at The Huddle.

There will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and cash prizes to the top three shooters.

All proceeds will go to area kids.

New Women's Jail Completed


Gila County Sheriff John Armer announces that the new 40 bed Women’s Jail Dormitory in Globe will be completed and turned over to the Sheriff’s Office on July 1. 

A “Spend the Night in Jail” fundraiser will be held on Friday, July 13. For $100 a person, participants will be shown the arrest and booking procedures along with touring the facility. You will then have the option of spending the night in the new jail, which includes being served the same food that is given to the inmates.

All funds will be donated to the Gila County Safe Home in Globe and the Time Out Shelter in Payson.

GCC Nursing Students Raising Money for Kids' Cancer

Gila Community College nursing students are having a bake sale and a raffle for gift baskets on Friday from 10 to 4 at Fry’s.

The gift baskets are donated by local businesses and the money goes to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. That’s a non-profit organization that raises money to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancers.

Annual Sweetheart Dance on February 11

The Gila County Sheriff’s Reserve Posse Sweetheart Dance will be held on Saturday, February 11 at the Gila County Fairgrounds.

Admission for the dance is $20 a couple and $15 for singles. Tickets are available from any Posse member, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office and several local businesses. Or you can call 425-3372.

The proceeds from this annual fundraiser help pay for uniforms and safety equipment.

All Star Girls Softball Team Fundraiser

The Pinal Mountain All Star Girls Softball Team is heading to the state finals. A Softball Tournament is being held this weeekend to help with food and lodging. The tournament is Saturday and Sunday at the Globe Community Center. The cost is $150 a team. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place.

The concession stand will be open serving breakfast and lunch. T-shirts will be on sale for $15. There will also be items raffled off and a dunk tank.

Boys and Girls Club Golf Tournament

The Boys and Girls Club of Globe is hosting a 3 person scramble golf tournament on Saturday, March 19 at the Cobre Valley Country Club. It’s $45 a person for early registration, $50 the day of the tournament.

There will be prizes for the top three golf teams. Prizes will be awarded for longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin.

In order to make this a successful event, the Boys and Girls Club is looking for 3-person golf teams and prize donations. To donate or for more information call 402-8841.

Dance Fundraiser at Lady's Center

A New Year’s Eve dance will be held from 9:pm until 1:am at the Lady’s Center in Miami. The price is $30 a couple and $20 for a single. Proceeds will go to renovations at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. RSVP by calling 425-7946.

Teens Selling 'Sand in a Jar' Mixes Friday

The Copper Communities Hospice Teen Volunteers are selling “Sand in a Jar” mixes Friday at Fry’s and at the Claypool Safeway. The $10 jars contain your choice of a chocolate chip cookie mix, Snickerdoodle cookie mix or a hot chocolate mix.

Proceeds go to the Hospice Foundation Fund to help people have no available insurance or other coverage pay for hospice care.
