Salute to Ranching on December 6

The annual Salute to Ranching will take place on Friday, Decmber 6 at the Dream Manor Inn.

Rancher of the Year and a Wrangler of the Year will be recognized at that time.

No-host cocktails are at 5:30pm and a steak dinner will follow at about 6:30. The cost is $30 a plate and reservations are needed before December 3.

Nomination forms for the awards are available at the Chamber of Commerce office. For reservations call 425-4495.

USDA Designates San Carlos Apache Reservation Disaster Area

The San Carlos Apache Reservation has been designated a primary natural disaster area due to losses from wildfires, drought and excessive heat.

The US Department of Agricuklture also announced Thursday that farmers and ranchers in Gila, Apache, Navajo, Pinal, Graham and Greenlee counties also qualify for natural disaster assistance.

Farmers who meet eligibility requirements have eight months to apply for low interest emergency loans to help cover part of their losses.

Salute to Ranching Tonight

The Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual Salute to Ranching tonight (Thursday). The dinner recognizes the accomplishments and programs of Gila County ranchers over the past year. Rancher of the Year and Wrangler of the Year will be announced tonight at the dinner.

Tickets are $30 at the door. No host cocktails begin at 5:30 followed by the dinner at 6:30.
