Feds and White Mountain Apache Tribe Sign Water-Rights Agreement

The federal government and the White Mountain Apache Tribe signed a water agreement yesterday (Tuesday).

Cronkite News Service says the deal ends decades of legal fighting over rights to water from the Little Colorado and Gila Rivers by allocating about 23,000 acre-feet of water from the Central Arizona Project to the tribe each year.

The deal also includes $200 million for construction of a new water system for the tribe and an additional $78 million for fish production, lakes, irrigation and other water projects.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell says the deal ensures that both the White Mountain Apache Tribe and Phoenix residents have a water supply for the “next 100 years.”

Traffic Restricted to One Lane Wednesday on Ice House Canyon Road

Traffic will be restricted to one lane tomorrow (Wednesday) between 6:am and 2:pm on a portion of Ice House Canyon Road.

The City of Globe will install  new water equipment in that area but there will be no interruption in water service.

ADEQ Releases Draft for Public Review

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has released a draft version of a report that examines water surface quality in Arizona. The draft is available for public review and comment at the ADEQ website.

The Clean Water Act requires states to assess water quality data every two years and publish a list of surface waters that are not meeting quality standards.

Water Will Be Turned Off Thursday in Six Shooter Canyon

The City of Globe will turn off the water tomorrow (Thursday) in the Six Shooter Canyon area at 8:am until about 3:pm.

The Water Department will be replacing a main water valve on Marlin Drive.

Globe Water Restrictions Lifted

On Friday the City of Globe issued mandatory water restrictions. Those restrictions have been lifted because the water tank issue has been resolved. However, drought conditions continue and everyone is encouraged to conserve water wherever possible.

The City of Globe will turn off the water in parts of Globe tomorrow (Tuesday) morning while crews replace a 6” water valve.

The water will be off for about 6 hours starting at 4:am, affecting Santee Street, Gillette Street, Side Street and Blake Street, between Broad and Gleason Street.

The City of Globe will turn off the water in parts of Globe Tuesday morning (June 14) at 4:00 to replace a 6 inch water valve. The water will be off for about 6 hours in the area of Santee Street, Gillette Street, Side Street and Blake Street, between Broad and Gleason Street.

Globe to Turn Off Water Monday in Canyons

On Monday (March 28) the City of Globe will turn off the water in Ice House Canyon and Six Shooter Canyon.

The water will be off from 8:am until 4:pm while workers install 2 main line valves and connect the new water main to the existing line.

Portion of Icehouse Canyon Road Closed Tuesday

Icehouse Canyon Road will be closed Tuesday from 6:am until 4:pm between South Six Shooter Canyon Road and El Paso Road. Globe Water Department is installing a new 6 inch water line.

Residents needing access to Icehouse Canyon Road will be diverted along South Hagen Road and past the Globe baseball fields and Public Works Maintenance Yard. Traffic will be diverted along Liberty High School.
