Arizonans Drop Off 3 Tons of Prescription Drugs
Arizonans statewide dumped over 3 tons of prescription drugs last Saturday during the Operation Take-Back Arizona. The one day nationwide campaign gave Arizonans the opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted and expired medications.
KTAR reports that more than 33 police, tribal and sheriff departments hosted 74 Arizona collection sites.
The US Drug Enforcement Administration says that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends. This includes the home medicine cabinet. In Arizona, one in five teens has reported abusing prescription drugs.
