Russell Road Surfacing

The Gila County Roads Department is surfacing Rusell Road beginning today (Monday) and continuing through August 19.

The surfacing work takes place between 6:am and 4:30pm Monday through Thursday.

There will be 30 minute delays. Heavy truck traffic will be entering on Hospital Road onto Russell Road and exiting on Kellner Canyon, then Ice house Canyon and ending at Jess Hayes Road.

Road Work Tuesday on Highway 60


Sullivan Paving will be repairing the asphalt on Highway 60  near the N. Broad Street and W. Ash Street intersection on Tuesday. That’s the intersection at the Car Wash and Circle K.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction. The westbound lanes of Highway 60 will be closed from Hackney Avenue to Blake Street. North Broad Street will be closed at Haskins Road.  Silver Street will be closed at Highway 60.

The repairs will take place between 8:am and 4:pm.

Bixby Road Closed Saturday for Construction


The Gila County Public Works Department announces that Mountain States Contracting will finish upgrading the railroad crossing on Bixby Road this Saturday.

A concrete crossing will be installed and Bixby Road will be closed to all traffic between 5:am and 6:pm on Saturday. Residents are urged to use Pinal Creek Road during this time.

US 60 Construction Through Gold Canyon Winding Down

The Arizona Department of Transportation’s project to repave US 60 through Gold Canyon is now entering its final weeks.

Over the next three weeks crews will finish applying the second layer of pavement and striping between mileposts 199 and 211. One lane in each diection will be open through the work zone. When paving concludes, there will be intermittent single lane closures while guardrails are repaired or replaced, new traffic signs are installed, traffic signals are timed to current standards, and major clean up of the area takes place.

Crews will work Monday through Thursday from 7:am to 6:pm. Motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes.
