Visit Parks Free on National Public Lands Day

Photo:EarthGauge

Saturday is National Public Lands Day. Visitors to the Grand Canyon and other national parks will get in free on that day.

National Public Lands Day began in 1994 as a way to encourage outdoor activity. In addition to recreational opportunities, volunteers across the country will help conserve and restore the natural resources on public lands.

AZ Game & Fish Recives Grant to Improve Outdoor Access

The Arizona Game and Fish Department has been awarded a $600,000 grant from the US Department of Agriculture. The purpose of the grant is to improve outdoor recreational access to public lands.

The Department says it will use the money to help ensure that private land owners allow recreational access to their private land holdings or allow the public access through their private landholdings to otherwise inaccessible public lands.

The Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program provides incentives to landowners to give access to hunters, fishermen, hikers, campers, bird watchers and other outdoor enthusiasts.
