First Hamburger Fry of the Season Today

The first hamburger fry of the season will be held today (Friday) at the Gila County Historical Museum. It starts at 5:30pm.

The monthly event will continue through the spring, summer and fall on the last Friday of each month.

The cost is $7 a person.

The Globe Centennial Band will present a free concert at the first hamburger fry on April 25.

First Friday Presentation About Chief Talkalai

Retired Gila County Historical Museum Director Bill Haak is the guest speaker at the First Friday program this Friday (January 3) at the Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum.

The presentation is about Chief Talkalai, the elderly Chief who lived with his extended family at an encampment at the west side of Miami during the early days of the community.

Haak has a large group of pictures that he will be showing along with many facts about the early life of Chief Talkalai that most people do not know.

The first Friday programs are presented to the public free of charge at the beginning of each month. 

Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy light refershments after the presentation

Museum Open House This Friday

The Gila County Historical Museum in Globe and the Bullion Plaza Museum and Cultural Center in Miami are holding a joint Christmas Open House this Friday (December 6)  in place of the regular First Friday program. 

It’s from 4 to 7:pm.at the museum in Globe.

Centennial Band Will Perform at Hamburger Fry

The Globe-Miami Centennial Band will begin its 2013-2014 season on Friday with an outdoor performance at the Gila County Historical Museum Hamburger Fry.

The hamburger fry and the concert begin at 5:30pm.

This is the last hamburger fry of the season. Hamburgers, chips, cowboy beans, salad, dessert and drinks will be available for $7 a person.

Hamburger Fry This Friday

Thanks to help from Freeport McMoRan, a work crew of prisoners from the Gila County Sheriff’s Office, and museum docents and helpers, those who attend the monthly hamburger fry this Friday (August 30) at the Gila County Historical Museum  will have the opportunity to visit on the lawn of the newly refurbished building.

In addition, the Bustle and Boots Square Dance Club will provide entertainment.

Serving for the monthly fry will begin at 5:30pm.

Monthly Hamburger Fry

The Gila County Historical Museum monthly hamburger fry starts Friday at 5:30pm.

The cost of the meal is $7 and consists of hamburgers, cowboy beans, chips, salads, desserts and drinks.

Entertainment will be provided by Rick Uhl.

Building Fund Established for Museum Meeting Room

The Gila County Historical Museum has established a Building Fund for the future addition of a community meeting room.

The Research Library has been used for meetings in the past  but  the addition of a bookcase, storage shelving and equipment has been cutting down  the meeting space. Contact the museum for more information.

The Gila County Historical Museum is open to the public at no charge from 10:am to 4:pm Monday through Friday and 11 to 3 on Saturdays.

Meet Journey of Hope Bicycle Riders at Hamburger Fry

The Gila County Historical Museum is having their monthly hamburger fry today (Friday) beginning at 5:30pm.

After the dinner you can meet 35 bicycle riders who will be cycling through Globe as part of the PUSH America program, Journey of Hope, serving people with disabilities.

These  young men spend their summer break traveling from the West to the East Coast, stopping each evening at communities along the way

The Season's First Hamburger Fry is This Friday

The Gila County Historical Museum will hold the first hamburger fry of the season on Friday at 5:30pm on the museum grounds.

Hamburgers, chips, salads, beans and dessert are  $7. This year they are asking that you use the plates provided by the museum and don't bring trays from home.

The Centennial Band will perform starting at 6:00.

Gila County Historical Society Meets Friday

The annual meeting of the Gila County Historical Society will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 6:30 pm at the Gila County Historical Museum.

A meet and greet with light refreshments starts at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7:15. The public is invited.

Events at GHS This Weekend

Globe High School will be a busy place ths weekend. The free events include the Historical Society’s antique show, a car show, and the Alumni Association’s open house.

The Centennial Band will perform a concert on Saturday at 3:pm in the Globe High School auditorium.

State Historian Jim Turner in Globe-Miami This Weekend

Arizona’s State Historian Jim Turner will be the guest speaker at the First Friday program tomorrow at 6:30pm at the Bullion Plaza. His presentation about Arizona statehood is free and light refrreshments will be served after the program.

Turner will also be at the Gila County Historical Museum on Saturday from 11 until 3. This is a book signing for his Centennial Book, “Arizona—A Celebration of the Grand Canyon State."

Arizona Statehood Talk on March 2

The First Friday program on March 2 will feature Jim Turner with a talk about Arizona statehood. The program is free and starts at 6:30 at the Miami Memorial Library. Light refreshments will be served following the program.

Annual Antique Show on March 10-11

The 27th annual Gila County Historical Museum Antique Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 10 and 11 at the Globe High School gymnasium.

The show is being held in conjunction with the Historic Home and Building Tour.

If you would like to have a booth at the show, call chairman Donna Anderson at 812-2969 or the Gila County Historical Museum. The cost of a 12x12 booth space is $50.

There will be no admission charge for the show.

Museum Presents 'First Christmas in Globe 1876'

The Gila County Historical Museum presents a special Christmas production tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday night in the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Performances of “The First Christmas in Globe, Arizona 1876” begin at 7:pm.

Former Gila County Historical Museum Director Bill Haak and Bullion Plaza Museum Director Tom Foster will play Bill McNelly and Felix Knox, who are hosting a Christmas gathering at their saloon in early Globe.

There is no admission fee for the production which will be followed by light refreshments.
