Miami Library Book Sale Begins Saturday

The Miami Memorial Library’s Spring Book Sale starts Saturday (May 3) and continues through May 31.

It kicks off Saturday with an Open House including refreshments.

There is always a great selection of new books for $1 each, and bags full of slightly used books for $1 a bag.

Miami Library Closed Today; Book Sale Extended

The Miami Memorial Library is closed today (Wednesday) so that the staff can attend a Gila County Library District meeting. The library will reopen on Thursday at 10:am.

The Friends of the Miami Library have extended their Fall Book Sale to December 21.

Library hours are 10:am to 6:pm Tuesday through Friday and 9:am to 1:pm on Saturday.

Miami Library Book Sale

The Miami Memorial Library is having a month long Fall/Winter Book Sale beginning Saturday (November 2).

The sale will take place from 9:am to 1:pm Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Like-new hardcover books will be sold for a dollar each, paperbacks for fifty cents.They will also have their popular “bag of books for a buck.”

Local Libraries Begin Summer Reading Programs

Both the Globe Public Library and the Miami Memorial Library begin their Summer Reading Programs on Wednesday  (June 12).

The Globe Library’s Wednesday program is from 10:am until Noon and is for children going into first through third grades. The Thursday program from 10 until Noon is for children going into the fourth through sixth grades.

The Miami Library Wednesday program is for school aged children and is from from 2 to 4:pm. Story Hour for preschoolers is on Thursdays from 2 to 3. And on Friday at 2:pm the Miami Library will have cartoons, a children’s movie and popcorn.

'Magical Balloon Making Cowboy' at Globe and Miami Libraries

Both the Miami Memorial Library and the Globe Public Library kick off their summer reading programs on Friday with Arizona Rick-The Magical Balloon Making Cowboy.

Arizona Rick will be at the Globe library at 11:am and at the Miami library at 1:pm.

The Miami Memorial Library starts its Summer Reading Program this Friday at 1:pm with Arizona Rick, The Magical Balloon Making Cowboy.

Applications for the Miami Library’s summer program are available at the library.

The summer program starts Wednesday, June 12. It will run for six weeks until July 19.

On Wednesdays from 2 to 4 there will be a program for school aged children with stories, games, reading prizes and snacks.

Thursdays from 2 to 3 is Story Hour with stories and treats for preschoolers.

Fridays at 2:pm will be “Movie Day” with cartoons, a children’s movie and popcorn.

Miami Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Miami Memorial library are having their dollar a bag book sale during the month of May. 

There are also “like new” hardcover books for $1 and paperbacks for 50 cents.

All proceeds from the book sales are used to buy new books and supplies for the library.

'Ghost to Ghost AZ' Presentation This Saturday at Miami Library

The paranormal group Ghost to Ghost AZ will give a presentation about ghost hunting on Saturday  (April 20) at 4:pm at the Miami Memorial Library.

The Miami Memorial Library kicks off its Summer Reading Program this Friday at 1:pm with a performance by Arizona Rick, the “Magical Balloon Making Cowboy.” It features storytelling, magic and games, all with balloons.

The Arizona Story Hour is on Thursdays from 2 to 3, with story time and treats for preschoolers.

Miami Library Book Sale on Saturday

The Friends of the Miami Library Spring Book Sale is this Saturday from 9:am to 1:pm.

Like new hardbacks are $1. Paperbacks are 50 cents. They will also have “A Bag of Books for a Buck.”

All proceeds support the programs of the Miami Memorial Library.

First Friday Program About 'Prehistoric Arizona'

Eddie Colyott returns to the First Friday historic lecture series tomorrow night at the Miami Memorial Library. His presentation on “Prehistoric Arizona” begins at 6:30.

The program is free and is followed by light refreshments.

Miami Library Holiday Events

Miami Memorial Library is having a book signing reception for Dr. Santos Vega, author of “Around Miami.” The book signing is Saturday from 11 until 1. There will be refreshments and copies of the book are available.

The Friends of the Miami Library month long Holiday Book Sale begins Saturday, December 10 from 9 to 1. They will have a "bag of books for a buck" plus a large selection of like-new hardcovers for a dollar each and paperbacks for 50 cents.

You can take care of overdue fines with a can of food for each dollar owed, to go to the Miami Food Bank.

Medicare Open Enrollment Presentation at Miami Library

The Miami Memorial Library will host an “Open Enrollment Benefits” presentation Thursday from 11 until 3.

Medicare open enrollment dates change this fall and this presentation will answer your questions about the new 2012 plans. The workshop is sponsored by the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens and the Town of Miami.

Benefit counselor Bess Bennett also provides free information and her services every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 until 2 at the Miami Library.

Miami Library Closed Today

The Miami Memorial Library is closed today (Wednesday) for a Gila County librarians meeting.

The library will reopen tomorrow at 10:am.

Facebook and Skype Workshops

Miami Public Library will have a free Facebook and Skype workshop at 6:30pm on Thursday. The workshop will also be held on Friday, July 22 at the Globe Library.

The workshop will show you how to use Facebook to connect with family and friends no matter where they live. Skype is a video chat program that allows you to talk to family and friends all over the world while actually getting to look at them while you talk.

Gila County Library District Web Site

Gila County Library District has a new Web site, thanks to a grant from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Recorsds. It’s at www.gcldaz.org.

The site provides access to all the public libraries within Gila County as well as access to museums, numerous online resources supplied by the Arizona State Library and the Gila County Library District, and library friends groups. You can now log on to your library account to renew books and other items, place holds, and search the library catelog.

The grant also makes it possible for the libraries to host computer and Internet classes for the public. These classes teach the basic skills needed to navigate the Internet, including an introduction to the Gila County Library District Web Site and its online resources.

Miami Library Closed Saturday

Miami Memorial Library will be closed Saturday for the Fourth of July holiday. The library will reopen on Tuesday, July 5 at 10:am.
