David F. Gordon passed away last week. He was 79. He is survived by 4 daughters; his son Randall of Globe; and 2 brothers, including Phillip Gordon of Globe.

Miami Rail Rally
The second annual train ride from Globe to Miami and back leaves the Globe depot tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12:Noon. It’s a fundraiser for economic development projects for the Town of Miami. The train will pull into the Miami depot at 1:pm and then return to Globe around 1:30.
It is hoped that the community support for this event will encourage Arizona Eastern Railroad to add Miami to the Copper Spike excursion this fall.
Tickets are $35, which includes a lunch on the train. Call Marlene at 473-4134 to see if there are any seats left.
Landfill Info at Globe Senior Center
April is Keep America Beautiful Month. The Globe Senior Center will have a special presentation on Wednesday from Sharon Winters from the Gila County Landfill. She will talk about what goes into the landfill and how we can reduce the “stuff” that goes there. It starts at 11:30am.

Abel James Key, Sr. passed away Saturday at University Medical Center in Tucson. He was 71. He is survived by his wife Maxine; 4 daughters; 2 sons; his sister; 2 brothers; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Nurses throughout Arizona may be nominated in one or more of 14 categories. The awards were established to bring awareness to the critical nursing shortage throughout Arizona as well as to support future nurses through scholarship funding.

One person was air lifted to a Valley hospital after a two vehicle accident yesterday morning at Oak and Broad Street.
Miami Police arrested 47 year old Martha Garcia of Phoenix for two Globe warrants for assault and driving with a suspended license.
Globe Police arrested two people early this morning after a family dispute at Copper Country Mobile Home Park. 23 year old Mariah Taraba was charged with domestic assault. 25 year old Thomas Taraba was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Officers are investigating a domestic aggravated assault report and an assault in a separate incident at Globe Mobile Home Park.

US 60 Lane Closures Near Florence Junction
The Arizona Department of Transportation has scheduled lane closures on US 60 near Florence Junction beginning Wednesday.
ADOT will apply a coat of rejuvenating oil to the roadway surface on US 60 at Queen Valley Road near Florence Junction. Work crews will direct motorists through the lane closures in the work zone. Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.
On Wednesday, work will take place on the east and westbound right lanes, and the entrance and exit ramps at Queen Valley Road.
Work on the east and westbound left lanes will take place on Thursday.
Lane closures will be in effect from 8:am to 2:pm.

Globe Senior Center Picnic in the Park
The Globe Senior Center will have its first Picnic in the Park of the year on Tuesday. There’ll be entertainment and games along with cheeseburgers and hot dogs and other picnic goodies.

Yesterday Globe Police located a vehicle that belonged to a runaway juvenile at an address on East Cedar. The resident—19 year old Aubrey Moran --was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The runaway was referred to the juvenile detention center. Another runaway was located at the same residence. She was returned to her mother.
On Saturday officers arrested 45 year old Lawrence Dorame for disorderly conduct after he threw a bottle that hit a car at Connue’s Store.
45 year old Sandra Rittenbach was arrested Saturday for false reporting to law enforcement.
On Friday night a theft suspect at Walmart fled across the highway into the tailings area of the Freeport mine. Globe PD, Sheriff’s deputies, DPS officers and Freeport Security personnel were unable to locate the suspect. The case is under investigation.
Globe Police arrested 29 year old Jeffrey Werner on a failure to appear warrant for dangerous drugs.
Two people were arrested after a disturbance Friday night at the Drift Inn. 26 year old Matthew Villegas and 26 year old Tony Cruz were charged with disorderly conduct.

On Saturday deputies arrested 33 year old David Martinez at a residence on Lower Glendale for domestic violence, aggravated assault, endangerment, criminal damage and a child support warrant
