Yesterday Globe Police arrested 31 year old Theodora Flores for hindering an investigation.

32 year old Chad Splane was arrested on a failure to comply warrant for assault.

Officers are investigating a hit and run accident on High Street and a report of telephone harassment taken at a residence on Lindsey Drive.

Obituary

Leona Fay Cage passed away October 15 at Copper Mountain Inn. She was 98. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Powell and her son Elvin Quartes.

Funeral services for Leona Cage will be private.

Yesterday the Gila County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26 year old Misty Courtney on warrants for possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a narcotic drug and theft.

Deputies are investigating a theft on Railroad Avenue and a report of harassing phone calls taken at a residence on Upper Pinal Creek.

Globe Police arrested 61 year old June Howe for theft.

21 year old Jessenia Gonzales was arrested on a failure to appear warrant for criminal trespass.

44 year old Andria James was arrested on a contempt of court warrant for leaving the scene of an accident.

An officer took a theft report at a residence on Hunter Drive.

Mesa Police arrested 24 year Maryan Jones on a child support warrant.

Pahe Sentenced to 7.5 Years in Prison

Gila County Attorney Bradley Beauchamp has announced that on Monday, October 14, 50 year old Globe resident Lyle Pahe was sentenced to 7.5 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections for aggravated assault.

On August 2, Pahe stabbed the victim several times while the victim was sleeping on a bench in downtown Globe. Pahe initially said that the victim attacked him first and he was just defending himself. He then changed his story several times and told investigators that he couldn’t remember what happened because he was drunk.

Pahe plead guilty to aggravated assault on September 6. At the sentencing the state recommended an aggravated term of 7.5 years in prison because Pahe caused physical  harm to the victim and had a criminal history of 6 misdemeanor convictions.

Globe PD Investigating Shots Fired at Highway 60 Safeway

The Globe Police Department has issued a press release about shots fired Monday night at the Safeway and Walmart stores on Highway 60. There were no injuries.

Five shots were fired around 7:45pm from a moving vehicle on Highway 60. Two of the rounds struck a vehicle parked at the north end of the Safeway parking lot and one round struck a vehicle parked at the south end of the parking lot near the Safeway store. A fourth round traveled over the top of the Safeway building and landed  on Miami High School property. It is not known where or what the fifth shot struck.

There were no reports of anyone being hit by the shots but two vehicles were damaged.

Town Hall Meeting to Discuss Library Parking

The Globe Public Library staff is having a public Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday to discuss the library parking area.

You can help the library staff explain to the Globe City Council why the library needs a better parking area, from a citizens’ perspective. Are there enough parking spaces? Do you have trouble leaving the parking lot? Any other problems?

The meeting is in the Globe City Council Chambers on Wednesday at 5:30pm.

Bicycle Race This Saturday at Globe Community Center

The Globe Community Center is hosting a bicycle race around the park this Saturday (October 19) from 9:am to 2:pm.

Everybody is invited to participate or to bring a lawn chair and watch.

Children 18 and under will get to race for free. Adults will be required to pay a $10 insurance fee to ride or you can race in the three lap “Fun Ride.” If you want to compete against the experts who are coming to town you will need to pay a $35 entry fee plus the insurance fee.

All bicycle riders will need to have a helmet and the bicycles must not have bar-ends or pegs.

Children under 18 will need to have a parent present to sign a waiver.

Yesterday the Gila County Task Force arrested 26 year old Justin Martin and 26 year old Dominic Ramos for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 29 year old Jesse Olivas was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22 year old William Lagunas on a failure to comply warrant for disorderly conduct.

Apache Junction Police arrested 23 year old Monica Henry of San Carlos on warrants for possession of marijuana, possession of dug paraphernalia, false reporting to law enforcement, taking the identity of another person, and organized retail theft.

Deputies are investigating a report of harassment taken at the County Assessor’s Office; a theft at a residence on Smith Street; and a theft from a vehicle.

Globe Police arrested 32 year old Stephanie Velasquez of Mesa on a Maricopa County warrant for failure to pay on a charge of false reporting to law enforcement.

Officers are investigating a report of a forgery taken at a business on Highway 60; a theft; and a vehicular burglary on Hunter Drive.

Obituary

Jerry Bahlen of Peridot passed away October 11 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was 64. He is survived by Velma Hosteenez; his daughters Michelle Bahlen, Velda Bahlen and Rosaria Astor; his son Terry; his brother; and his sister Phillippa Quade.

The wake for Jerry Bahlen is Friday at 4:pm at the Velma Hosteenez residence. The funeral is Saturday at 10:am at San Carlos Miracle Church.

Open House Discussions About Globe General Plan

The City of Globe will have two more Open House sessions next week to discuss the Globe General Plan Update.

The session for Districts 5 and 6 will be held next Tuesday, October 22 at 6:pm at the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce.

The session for Districts 1 and 2 will be held Thursday, October 24 at 6:pm at Besh Ba Gowah.

Some of the topics to be discussed include:

What is important to the quality of life in Globe?

What type of development is appropriate for the City of Globe? And

Does Globe provide enough support for walking and biking?

The open house format is informal and is designed to encourage open dialogue.

Flu Vaccines Available Tuesday in Roosevelt and Tonto Basin

The Gila County Health Department will have flu vaccines Tuesday at the Tonto Basin School from 8:am until Noon.

They will also be at Roosevelt Baptist Church on Tuesday from 1:30 until 3:pm.

Nobody was hurt in a two vehicle accident Friday afternoon on Highway 60.

Yesterday the US Forest Service arrested 36 year old Christopher Esparza of Globe on a failure to pay warrant for assault; a failure to pay warrant for disorderly conduct; and a contempt of court warrant for DUI.

On Saturday the Gila County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42 year old George Snelling for  burglary and possession of stolen property.

44 year old Tony Smith of Tucson was arrested for burglary, possession of stolen property and a Department of Corrections warrant for forgery.

56 year old Phil Lopez was arrested on a child support warrant.

Deputies are investigating a report of a stolen vehicle taken at a residence on Apache Hills Lane; burglaries on Mountain View and at Holiday Hills Mobile Home Park; a theft at a residence on Beer Tree; and criminal damage at  residences on Central, Utility Street, Railroad Avenue and Calle De Loma.

Globe Police were dispatched to a business on South Street late Saturday night after a call about an intoxicated man refusing to leave the premises. They arrested 37 year old DeWayne Wilson of New Mexico for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Wilson also had outstanding warrants from Navajo County for possession of drug paraphernalia.

31 year old Courtney Gutierrez and 36 year old Verdell Gutierrez were arrested Saturday at a business on Highway 60 for organized retail theft.

26 year old Courtney Stevens was arrested Saturday for DUI.

Officers arrested two people Saturday afternoon who had outstanding warrants. 22 year old Dakota Mata and 23 year old Bracken Pina both had probation violation warrants  for burglary. Pina also had  failure to appear warrants for trafficking in stolen property and disorderly conduct.

Friday night Globe Police arrested 26 year old Nathan Lang at a residence on Linda Vista for aggravated domestic violence/assault and kidnapping. Lang also had outstanding warrants for criminal trespass, domestic violence/assault and threats and intimidation.

75 year old Bill Robles was arrested for shoplifting at a business on Highway 60.

Officers are investigating criminal damage at a business on South Street and a report of harassment taken at a business on Highway 60.

Mesa Police arrested 37 year old Erna Bead of Miami on a failure to pay warrant for issuing a bad check.

Greenlee County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28 year old Sherri Scott of Globe on a failure to comply warrant for issuing a bad check.

Obituary

Valentine Cano Garcia of Miami passed away October 9 at Banner Gardens Hospice House. He is survived by his wife Marcella; 3 daughters, including Tina Garcia and Sherry Cutter of Globe; his son; and his sister Lola Quintana of Globe.

A Memorial Service  for Valentine Garcia will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11:am at Lamont Mortuary.
