Globe Library Raffle

Raffle tickets are now available for the Friends of the Globe Library Idea House Fall Basket. The basket includes a mug, a book, mixed nuts and a hundred dollar bill.

Tickets are $1 each or 12 for $10. You can purchase your tickets at the Library or from the Friends of the Library.

Globe Council Meets Monday

Globe City Council meets Monday at 6:00. There will be a presentation about Gila County Libraries’ Early Literacy efforts.
The Council will discuss and possibly adopt the Northeast Area Plan.
They will also consider an addition to the Globe City Code dealing with conditional use permits for medical marijuana dispensaries. The new section includes a conditional repeal if Proposition 203 is not approved in the November 2 election.

Police Log

Nobody was hurt in a hit and run accident yesterday near J & S Towing. 35 year old Cutberto Lopez of Oklahoma was located and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Globe Police arrested 47 year old Sam Hinton, Jr. for shoplifting at the Hill Street Safeway. A records check showed that Hinton also had two outstanding warrants.

There was a two vehicle accident about 4:40 yesterday afternoon on Highway 60 at MP 246.6.
A second accident occurred at the same location about 15 minutes later involving a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was not injured.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office arrested 20 year old Justin Fountain yesterday for burglary.

19 year old Jacob Conrad was arrested on a wararnt for possession and use of marijuana.

Globe Police are investigating a domestic violence report; a report of harassment taken at a residence on Escudilla; a report of telephone harassment taken at Globe Mobile Home Park; a report of threats taken at a residence on Pasqual; a theft report taken at Copper Country Mobile Home Park.

Obituary

Mabel Smith of Globe passed away Tuesday at Hospice of the Valley Lund Home in Gilbert. She was 75.
A Memorial Service for Mabel Smith will be held Monday at 5:30pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Apache Jii is This Saturday

The 27th annual Apache Jii celebration begins at 9:am Saturday in downtown Globe. The Broad Street street fair will feature booths with jewelry, painting, beading, wood and stone carving. Food booths will have everything from Apache fry bread and Indian tacos to acorn stew. Entertainment will continue throughout the day. There is no admission charge.

Miami Senior Center Pancake Breakfast

The Miami Senior Center is hosting a Pancake Breakfast Saturday from 7 to 11:am. The cost is $4 for adults and $3 for children.

Gold-N-Oldies Car Show

The Gold-N-Oldies Car Club is holding their 18th Annual Car Show Saturday in downtown Miami. It will run from 7:am until 3:pm. All proceeds from the show will go to local charitable agencies.

Miami Sports Hall of Fame Inductions on Saturday

The Miami Sports Hall of Fame will induct nearly 50 people in a major induction event on Saturday. This will include mostly teams that won state titles, such as the 1987 Vandal volleyball and basketball teams. The tennis teams of 1986 through 1989 will also be honored, as well as the members of the Vandal boys basketball teams of 1981 and 1983.

Three coaches will be inducted. Memorial inductions will be for coach Vera Jackson, who was one of the founders of the Girls Athletic Association in 1948, and Dorothy Paddock will be honored for her work with the Vandal archery teams. Basketball Coach Henry Reyna will be inducted and will be at the event.

The Miami Hall of Fame event begins Saturday at 10:am with a meet and greet at the Miami Library. Lunch will be served at noon in the Miami High School Cafeteria. The induction ceremony will take place at 1:pm in the Miami High School auditorium, followed by an ice cream social. The public is invited to attend.

Jon Michael Kay passed away Wednesday at his home in Globe. He was 64. He is survived by his wife Sandy; his son Shane; his daughter; his brother; and 2 grandchildren.
Services for John Kay will be private.

38 year old Cory Stevenson was arrested for probation violation on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

24 year old Dalin Webster was arrested at a traffic stop for driving with a suspended license.

A 17 year old juvenile was arrested for assault at Judy's Cookhouse.

Globe PD arrested 52 year old Robert Steele for public consumption and shoplifting.

Mesa Police arrested 27 year old Marlene Pazzi of Globe on a criminal trespass warrant.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office arrested 32 year old Justin Justice of Globe on a child support warrant.

A hit and run driver went through the cemetery fence at Arbor and Golden Hill. The case is under investigation.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of criminal damage to a vehicle at a residence on Hazen.

Globe Police are investigating a fraud report taken at a residence on Broad Street; criminal damage to a duplex behind the AM/PM; criminal damage to a residence on Holly Drive; and a report about threats taken at Connie's Store.

Concert Association Opens 56th Season

The Globe-Miami Community Concert Association opens its 56th season Thursday at 7:00pm with the Woods Tea Company. It’s at the Miami High School Auditorium.

Miami Jr/Sr HS Parent-Teacher Conferences

Miami Junior/Senior High School is having Parent-Teacher Conferences Thursday from 5 to 8:pm. Conferences will take place in the cafeteria for high school students and in the library for junior high students.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office arrested 58 year old Boyd Crick for disorderly conduct after a dispute on Rattlesnake and Roberts Drive.

Gila County Task Force arrested 40 year old Jason Winters on 3 bad check warrants and a warrant for disorderly conduct-fighting.

Graham County Sheriff's Office arrested 20 year old Monica Henry of San Carlos on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage.

Show Low Police arrested 25 year old Vincent Garica of Miami for failure to appear on a charge of unlawful use of means of transportation.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft from a residence on Calle de Loma.

Globe Police are investigating criminal damage to a vehicle on South Agave and a report of theft by fraud taken at Bank of the West on Highway 60.

Obituary

Dominic Owen Ramos, Sr. of San Carlos passed away last week at Mt. Vista Medical Center in Mesa. He was 49. He is survived by his mother Therlene Ramos; 4 sons; 6 daughters; 3 brothers; 6 sisters; and 18 grandchildren.
The wake for Dominic Ramos, Sr. will be Friday at 4:pm at the Therlene Ramos residence. The funeral is Saturday at 11:am at the Assembly of God Church.
