The Miami School District and the Arizona Early Intervention Program are looking for children up to 36 months old and educationally at risk 3 and 4 year old children with disabilities or developmental delays. Those who meet the necessary criteria may be eligible for special services.
Screenings will be conducted on Monday (April 18) and on May 2 from 8:30am until 3:pm at Miami High School. Call Student Services at 425-3271 to schedule an appointment.

Gas Prices Continue to Rise
Gas prices continue to rise around the state and across the country. AAA Arizona reports that Arizonans are paying an average of $3.66 a gallon. That’s an increase of 6.2 cents from last week.
The nationwide average jumped nearly nine cents to a little more than $3.81 a gallon. That’s an increase of more than a quarter from last month.
Here in Globe-Miami prices are around $3.73.

Nobody was hurt in an accident yesterday morning at Ash and Hill Streets.
There were no injuries in a two vehicle accident in the 1300 block of North Broad Street. Both cars were towed from the scene. One driver was cited for failure to yield from a private drive.
One car was towed after a two vehicle non-injury accident around noon at the Walmart traffic light. A driver was cited for failure to control a vehicle to avoid an accident.
Globe Police arrested two people after a fight last night at the Drift Inn. 22 year old Jared Badilla and 22 year old Jacob Falquez were charged with disorderly conduct.
Gila County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people after a domestic disturbance last night on Boyles Avenue. 37 year old Joshua Chadburn was arrested for domestic violence/disorderly conduct and 32 year old Jason Vineyard was charged with domestic violence/assault.
Deputies are investigating criminal damage to a residence on First Avenue; criminal damage to a residence on Globe Canyon; and a theft at a residence on Walliman Road.

Miami Boomtown Spree This Weekend
The Miami Boomtown Spree takes place this weekend at Bullion Plaza Park.
The parade starts at 6:pm Friday and will proceed from Miami Avenue to Bullion Plaza.
The sound stage will feature music starting at 7:00.
Saturday events include a Pancake Breakfast at the Miami Senior Center from 7 until 11:am; the Copper Crawl Hill run; the Keystone Stair Climb; and a Car Show. Mining events continue throughout Saturday afternoon with dancing in the park at 7:pm.
Junior Mining events start Sunday at Noon and the Bed Races begin Sunday at 3:pm.

Firehouse Show and Shine Car Show
The Globe Firefighters Association is hosting the 4th annual Firehouse Show and Shine Car Show on Saturday. Proceeds from this event will support various causes in the Globe community.
The event kicks off Friday night at 6:00 with the annual hamburger fry at the Southwest Gas building on Russell Road.
Registration for the Car Show starts at 7:30am Saturday and the Show begins at 9:am.
Awards will be presented in front of the Globe Fire Station at 3:30pm.

The Friends of the Globe Public Library Spring Book Sale is going on Friday and Saturday at the library. The hours are 10 to 5 Friday and 10 to 4 on Saturday.

John Michael Gomez of Globe passed away Monday. He was 62. He is survived by Henrietta Gomez; 2 sisters and his brother.

CVRMC Auxiliary Purse and Jewelry Fundraiser
The Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Auxiliary is sponsoring a Purse and Jewelry Sale on Thursday. The sale continues until 4:00 in the Conference Room. Proceeds will benefit the hospital and the Auxiliary Scholarship Program.

ADOT and San Carlos Apache Transit Services present two meetings Thursday for public comments about the San Carlos Apache Tribe Transit Study.

Skeeter the Clown at Globe Library
Skeeter the Clown from the Culpepper-Meriweather Circus will be at the Globe Public Library Thursday morning at 11:am for a short performance. All young children are welcome free of charge.
Copper Cities Players Spring Theater

A survey by Metlife Insurance says that more than a third of all workers hope to leave their current jobs within the next year.
KTAR in Phoenix reports that the number of people who want to change jobs appears to increase as the unemployment rate dips.
Jobing.com’s Theresa Maher says it’s a misconception that only unemployed people are looking for jobs. She says that less than half of all employees feel loyal to their company and many think it’s time for a change.
