Yesterday Globe Police arrested 26 year old Travis Rainwater for assault.

29 year old Belinda Peterson was arrested for felony shoplifrting at a business on Hope Lane.

38 year old Selina Robertson was arrested yesterday for DUI.

46 year old Joseph Jones was arrested on a failure to pay warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers are investigating a theft on Carico Street and a delayed burglary report taken at a business on Pioneer Hills Road.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a theft from a vehicle at Pinal Creek and a burglary on Third Avenue.

Oregon Police arrested 21 year old Gabriel Valencia of Globe on a failure to appear warrant for sexual conduct with a minor.

May Hamburger Fry on Friday

The May hamburger fry at the Gila County Historical Museum begins Friday at 5:30pm.

Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the menu of hamburgers with chips, salads, cowboy beans and desserts for $7 a person.

Entertainment will be provided by the Bustle and Boots Square Dance Club.

Benefit Motorcycle Ride for Bobby Pena

The Independent Riders Benefit Ride for Bobby Pena  takes place this Saturday (June 1).

Registration is at 9:am at Copper Mountain Inn. The cost is $20 a person, including breakfast.

The ride is being held to help Bobby Pena, who is recovering from a serious motorcycle accident.

Round Mountain Sunrise Challenge This Saturday

The 13^th Annual Round Mountain Sunrise Challenge  takes place this Saturday (June 1).

The event celebrates National Trails Day. Registration begins at 5:am and the race starts at 6.

The fee is $30. Entry blanks and maps of the route are available at the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce.

Revised Globe City Code for Abandoned Vehicles Effective Saturday

The Globe City Council recently adopted a change to the City Code about abandoned vehicles. The revised code goes into effect on Saturday (June 1).

The City Code says it is a violation to abandon any vehicle on public property or right of way. A vehicle will be considered abandoned if it is left unattended for 48 hours along any highway, road or other public thoroughfare, or for 72 hours on any other public property.

The Globe Police Department says it will issue warnings for the first 30 days. Regular enforcement will begin on Moday, July 1.

Superior Court Administrator Mary Hawkins Retires

Gila County Superior Court announces the retirement of Superior Court Administrator Mary Hawkins.

Kendall Rhyne will assume the duties of Superior Court Administrator on June 1 in addition to  his current post of Chief Probation Officer.

Obituaries

Levis Patrick Lertique of Globe passed away Monday. He was 67. He is survived by his companion Mary Testa; 4 children, including Giselle Becker of Globe; 3 brothers, including Bob Lertique of Globe; 2 sisters, including Sue Mitchell of Globe; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for Levis Lertique will be held today (Thursday) at 11:am at Miles Funeral Services Globe.

Carl A. McCoy has passed away at the age of 88. He is survived by his sister; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation for Carl McCoy is Saturday at 1:pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The funeral is at 2:00.

Police Log

A two vehicle injury accident occurred yesterday afternoon at Highway 60 and Main Street. Everyone was checked by Globe EMS and one car was towed.

Nobody was hurt in a one vehicle accident on Nugget Drive.

Two people were arrested after Globe Police received a call about suspicious activity on High Street. 25 year old Ruben Chacon  was charged with burglary and 26 year old Lydia Montano of Superior was arrested for burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.

30 year old Jared Dosela was arrested for shoplifting at a business on Hill Street.

Officers are investigating a theft from a vehicle on East Oak; a theft on South Fourth Street; criminal damage on Cedar Street; and criminal damage on South Broad Street.

Miami Police arrested 23 year old Jose Ramirez for disorderly conduct and criminal damage.

Gila County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 15 year old juvenile for domestic violence/ assault and disorderly conduct after a disturbance in the area of Russell Road.

38 year old Terry Gonzales was cited and released for driving with a suspended license.

40 year old inmate Gary Roberts was served a failure to comply warrant for driving with a suspended license.

A report of criminal damage to a windshield was taken at a residence on Monroe Place.

Dorthy Jean Curbey passed away Saturday at her home in Globe. She was 82. She is survived by her sons Troy and Vern; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Visitation for Dorthy Curbey is Saturday at 10:am at Miles Funeral Services Globe. A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm at Globe Cemetery.

Emeline Nora Harden passed away Monday in Randolph, Arizona. She was 83. She is survived by her brother Clarence Harden.

A graveside service for Emeline Harden will be held Monday (June 3) at 1:pm at Pinal Cemetery in Central Heights.

The Miami School Board meets Wednesday at 6:30pm in the Miami High School Library.

They will have an Executive Session on student hearings.

Globe to Hold First of Several Public Meetings About General Plan

On Wednesday (May 29) the City of Globe will have the first of several Public Meetings about the Update to the City’s General Plan.

You are invited to express your level of interest in 25 different community and economic development strategies. You are also encouraged to offer your ideas and suggestions about specific initiatives and projects you feel could benefit the community.

The meeting begins at 6:pm in the Globe City Council Chambers.
