Yesterday Globe Police arrested 19 year old Leonardo Quay for underage consumption.

42 year old Anthony Palmer was arrested on Saturday for a probation violation warrant for aggravated DUI and driving with a suspended license.

On Friday Barletta Palmer was arrested on a probation violation warrant for aggravated DUI.

DPS in Phoenix arrested 40 year old Joe Hurst of Globe for failure to pay on a charge of possession and use of drug paraphernalia.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21 year old Solomon Williams on Saturday for shoplifting, disorderly conduct and criminal damage.

27 year old Robert Dobbs was arrested for criminal damage on Friday after a domestic incident on Central Drive.

The Gila County Task Force arrested 49 year old Robert Morris of Tucson for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

50 year old Richard Morris of Omaha, Nebraska was arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

26 year old Aireka Smith of Pinetop was cited and released for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

27 year old Patrick Smith of Lakeside was cited and released for driving with a suspended license.

Deputies are investigating a domestic incident on Euclid Street; a domestic incident on Holiday Hills; a stolen vehicle reported on Highway 188; a burglary on Elm Street; an attempted burglary at Sunrise Mobile Home Park; a fraud report taken on Palo Verde Road; shoplifting at a business on Highway 60; criminal damage at the Gila County Detention Center; and illegal dumping on Copper Canyon Drive.  

Globe VFW and American Legion Veterans Day Ceremony

The Globe VFW Post and the American Legion Post will have their annual Veterans Day ceremony today (Monday) at 11:00 at Veterans Park in Globe.

A lunch will be served following the event at the VFW hall.

Miami Veterans Day Parade, Ceremony and Cookout

The Town of Miami invites you to their Veterans Day Parade, Ceremony and Cookout today (Monday).

The parade starts at 10:20 am at the Bullion Plaza and will make its way along Sullivan Street to Miami Veterans Memorial Park.

The ceremony starts after the parade at around 11:00 and the hot dog cookout will follow the eceremony.

Police Log

There was a single vehicle accident shortly after midnight on Monroe Street. One person was taken to the hospital.

Globe Police received a call early this morning about a suspicious person with a gun on East Ash Street. The person was contacted and taken to the Globe Police station for a psychological evaluation.

25 year old Briana Salcido was arrested yesterday on Century Drive for domestic violence/assault.

44 year old Ernest Preston of Whiteriver was arrested last night for criminal trespass at a business on East Ash Street.

Officers are investigating a domestic disturbance reported on Linda Vista Drive; a hit and run collision on North Broad Street; and a theft at a residence on Third Street.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office took a theft report from BHP. They contacted and arrested 54 year old Luther Pearce, 33 year old Karl Lopez and 45 year old David Reveles for burglary and possession of burglary tools.

21 year old Joshua Gutierrez was charged with disorderly conduct/domestic violence after a disturbance on Highland.

A deputy took a theft report at a residence on Story Street.

Miami Police arrested 23 year old Brianna Barraza on a failure to comply warrant for disorderly conduct.

VFW Post Invites Veterans to Celebrate with Them This Weekend

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post on South Broad Street invites all veterans and guests to join them in celebrating Veterans weekend.

The post is open Friday at 4:pm, Saturday and Sunday at noon, and Monday at 10:am.

There will be music and a potluck dinner on Saturday at 7:pm. Bring your favorite dish.

A luncheon at noon on Monday will follow a Veterans Day ceremony at  Globe’s Veterans Park.

Tonto National Monument Free Admission This Weekend

The Tonto National Monument joins other National Park sites in honoring US military veterans and current members of the Armed Forces during Veterans Day weekend with free admission for all visitors from Saturday through Veterans Day on Monday.

The Monument is open every day from 8:am to 5:pm except Christmas.

Miami Override Passes

The Miami Unified School District override has passed.  The final votes were 738 Yes and 530 No.

The Miami School District says this means they will be able to continue art, music, P.E., band, junior high athletics and maintain class sizes.

Bridge Replacement on SR 77 Begins Today

The Arizona Department of Transportation begins a project today (Thursday) to reconstruct the Dripping Springs Wash Bridge. The bridge is 13 miles north of Winkelman on State Route 77.

Work will be conducted on half the bridge at a time, with one lane regulated by a traffic signal. Work hours will be 7:am to 5:pm Monday through Thursday.

Motorists will experience short delays with narrowed traffic lanes, a reduced speed limit and wide load restrictions.

The $2 million project is scheduled for completion in July of 2014.

Miami Library Closed Today; Book Sale Extended

The Miami Memorial Library is closed today (Wednesday) so that the staff can attend a Gila County Library District meeting. The library will reopen on Thursday at 10:am.

The Friends of the Miami Library have extended their Fall Book Sale to December 21.

Library hours are 10:am to 6:pm Tuesday through Friday and 9:am to 1:pm on Saturday.

Yesterday Globe Police arrested 21 year old Brandon Miller for possession of prescription drugs.

30 year old Francisco Gonzales was arrested on warrants for child abuse, continued sexual abuse, furnishing harmful items to a minor and sexual misconduct with a minor.

51 year old Manuel Johnson was arrested on warrants for assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal trespass.

Officers are investigating a fraud; an assault reported at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center; assault at a business on East Ash; a burglary at a residence on South Fourth Street; and a theft at a residence on Pinaleno Pass.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office arrested 66 year old William Lockwood on a contempt of court warrant for shoplifting.

Deputies are investigating a burglary at a residence on Black Warrior and an attempted burglary in the area of First Avenue.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34 year old David Vidales of Globe on a child support warrant.

Obituaries

Tullie Allen Desmond of Peridot passed away October 30. He was 31. He is survived by his wife Debbie; his children Hilario, Nikia and Darius Terrazas, and Nisa and Tellie Desmond; his sister and 2 brothers.

The wake for Tullie Desmond is tomorrow (Thursday) at 4:pm at the Desmond residence. The funeral is Friday at 2:pm at San Carlos Miracle Church.

Ramona G. Cranswick of Miami passed away November 1 at Hospice of the Valley in Chandler. She was 93. She is survived by her sons Harold, Harry and Harley; and 3 grandchildren.

Visitation for Ramona Cranswick is Friday (November 8) from 4 to 6:pm at Lamont Mortuary. The funeral is Saturday at 11:am.

Trinidad Ruiz of Globe passed away November 3 at Heritage Healthcare Center. She was 92. She is survived by her daughter “Angie” Meeks of Globe; 2 sisters; and 2 grandchildren.

Rosary for “Trinie” Ruiz is Saturday at 1:30pm at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is at 2:00.

Stapleton Wins Globe Council District 4

Mike Stapleton has won the runoff election in Globe Council District 4.

Unofficial results show Stapleton with 128 votes. Desmond Baker had 84.

Globe School Board Meets Wednesday

The Globe School Board meets Wednesday at 6:pm in the High Desert Middle School Auditorium.

The agenda includes possible approval of the annual School Facilities Board Capital Plan for Fiscal Year 2014.

Baby Story Time at Globe Public Library
